Fenerbahce moves to 9-0 in Turkey

 

Fenerbahce Beko beat Gaziantep 68 – 76 on the road to extend its Turkish BSL League record to 9-0. The reigning champions came back from down 12 points to take the win and remain the only undefeated team in the championship.

Johnathan Motley scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Fenerbahce. Carsen Edwards scored 13, Sehmus Hazer and Nigel Hayes dropped 12 points apiece while Metecan Birsen added 11 points.

Birsen also hit the dagger with a 3-pointer for the 65 – 76 with 49 secons to play. Fener had managed to assume control down the stretch thanks to buckets by Nick Calathes, Motley and Edwards who hit the triple to make it 65 – 72.

Codi Miller-McIntyre delivered 29 points plus four assists while Conner Frankamp had 12 points for Gaziantep. The hosts recovered from a 7-18 start, went up 38 – 26 and closed halftime with a 42 – 35 advantage. Fener cut that gap to 56 – 54 at the end of the third quarter and proceeded to go ahead and establish a lead in the fourth period.

Earlier, Pinar Karsiyaka stunned Anadolu Efes on the road behind some powerful displays by Braian Angola and Errick McCollum.
