LTD. is pleased to announce that Dr. Masahiro Shima, Chairman of the Board and Representative Director, has assumed the position of “Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Wakayama” as of August 29, 2022.
The inauguration ceremony was held today, December 5th, 2022, at SHIMA SEIKI headquarters, with Turkish ambassador to Japan Mr. Korkut Güngen in attendance. At the same time, the Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Wakayama was opened today at SHIMA SEIKI headquarters.
Japan and the Republic of Turkey have enjoyed more than 130 years of friendship since the shipwreck of the Ottoman frigate Ertugrul that occurred off the coast of Kushimoto, Wakayama Prefecture in 1890.
Wakayama Prefecture is said to be the starting point of this friendship.
SHIMA SEIKI has long been involved in the fashion and textile industry in Turkey through our flat knitting machine business, and we are committed to the promotion of friendship between the two countries.
We are honored to accept this position of Honorary Consul General in hopes that it will help maintain and develop the beneficial relationship between the Republic of Turkey and Wakayama Prefecture. We will make use of the experience we have cultivated so far to further promote exchange between the Republic of Turkey and Wakayama Prefecture.
