New versions of All3Media’s Traitors to infiltrate Greece, Hungary, Israel

MIPTV: Break-out reality format The Traitors is getting new international adaptations in territories including Greece, Hungary and Israel.

The psychological game will be adapted for ANT1 in Greece by Silverline Media Productions, while RTL in Hungary is working on a local version and Keshet in Israel has commissioned Fremantle’s Abot Hameiri to produce its own version, with production underway in Hungary.

The show’s distributor, All3Media International, revealed the deals on the first day of MipTV here in Cannes. These latest deals take the total number of local adaptations to 20.

Portugal became the latest territory to launch The Traitors (as Os Traidores) on April 9, when Shine Iberia’s version debuted on SIC.

In addition, a Swedish version has been commissioned by an unnamed broadcaster and another adaptation has been ordered for an as-yet-unannounced territory.

The Traitors has already been ordered or adapted in a host of territories around the world, with local versions on the way in Germany (RTL), Finland (broadcaster TBC) and Denmark (TV2).

A Spanish version recently debuted on HBO Max, and a local version is set to air on Three in New Zealand. Second seasons have also been commissioned following successful debut seasons in Flemish-speaking Belgium (VTM), French-speaking Belgium (RTL TVI), France (M6), Australia (Network 10), UK (BBC One), US (Peacock) and Norway (TV2).

All3Media International has also agreed tape sales in Canada for the UK, US and Australian versions.

Bell Media has taken rights in Canada to Studio Lambert’s US and UK versions and Endemol Shine’s Australian version, for streaming service Crave.

Created in the Netherlands by IDTV, an All3Media company, for RTL4, the original Dutch version, De Verraders, launched in 2021 and is now in its third season, which began in March 2023.

In The Traitors, the contestants move into an atmospheric location with the goal to work as a team to complete a series of challenging missions to earn a cash prize. The catch, however, is that some of the contestants are traitors who will attempt to deceive and manipulate their way to the prize instead of sharing it among the group.
