Slovakia Will Ban the Import of a Number of Products From Ukraine

The Slovak government will ban the import of a number of products from Ukraine. It is reported by  RIA Novosti.

The ban will take effect on April 19, 2023. According to the agency, grains, vegetables and fruits may be subject to restrictions. However, the possibility of transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of Slovakia will remain. There will be a special regime for her.

Earlier, the former Prime Minister of Slovakia and the current leader of the parliamentary opposition, Social Democrat Robert Fico called for a ban on the import of grain and products from Ukraine into the country. According to him, these deliveries threaten the national market. Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and head of the Committee on Customs and Tax Policy Danil Getmantsev expressed concern about a possible ban on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to neighboring European countries. He stated that almost a third of all Ukrainian agricultural exports in the first quarter of 2023 came from Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. “These losses will increase significantly in the event of a temporary ban on transit and the actual stop of the paths of solidarity,” the deputy believes.
