Five British tourists have been rescued after a motorboat exploded off the coast of a popular Greek island. The group of holidaymakers were coasting off the island of Zakynthos.
It is not yet clear was triggered the blaze but a passenger reportedly suffered burns around 250 feet from shore.Another vessel was on hand to assist the tourists.
The boat, which sprung into action after noticing the horror unfold, helped the group climb aboard before taking them ashore. Passengers received medical treatment once returning to Zakynthos.
Plumes of smoke soared into the Mediterranean sky as the holiday hotspot witnessed the blaze. A massive fireball was also seen spiralling away from the motorboat.
A clip recorded from the other vessel showed the remains of the motorboat. The fire appeared to spread all across the 21-foot craft.
It was already beginning to sink into the sea and Greek media later confirmed it sank. Zakynthos is to the west of mainland Greece and far away from other popular destinations in the Aegean Sea.

Greece was the fourth most popular country for UK residents to visit for at least one night in 2022. The number of visits by UK residents to the Mediterranean nation totalled 3,688,000 last year.
Greece narrowly trailed behind Italy on 3,991,000. France ended up in second with 7,433,000 visits.
However, Spain retained its spot as the most popular destination with more than 15 million visits.
