Margot Robbie has delighted fans in Sydney after unexpectedly popping into a restaurant and shouting everyone there a free cocktail. On Saturday, the Aussie actressed visited Merivale’s Mimi’s in Coogee with her husband Tom Ackerley.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, the 33-year-old surprised the other 126 diners by shouting them a round of cocktails from her gin brand Papa Salt. The announcement was reportedly met with a round of applause, with one patron telling the publication that “some people were crying” and Robbie spent over an hour talking with everyone and taking photos.
Another diner, Jaz Daly, told the publication that she had just come for lunch when she “unexpectedly” saw the Hollywood star, who was very approachable and “made everyone feel like they were a part of her lunch”. Robbie has been taking the opportunity to promote her Byron Bay-made gin brand while back Down Under – and this isn’t the first time during her trip she has surprised fans with free drinks.
During a Papa Salt event in Brisbane, the Barbie star shouted the first round on the bar for patrons at the trendy eatery Mr Percival’s. Fans flooded social media with videos of Robbie, thanking her for their free drinks. Robbie was in Perth last week where she was hosting a private event for the alcohol brand at the celebrity-favourite Indigo Oscar restaurant at Cottesloe Beach.
Videos shared on social media showed her being mobbed by adoring fans as she left the restaurant, with the star happily stopping for selfies before later hopping into a black car. Robbie launched Papa Salt earlier this year alongside her husband and their friends Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas and Charlie Maas.
Robbie’s recent public outings come after she’s remained largely under the radar in the months following the blockbuster success of the Greta Gerwig directed Barbie, which made over $1 billion at the global box office. Shortly after the film hit the financial milestone, the star was spotted enjoying a holiday in Greece with Ackerley in late September.
