BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — While pumpkin and pecan pies steal the Thanksgiving spotlight, those who prefer the taste of Greek pastries are in luck as the organizers behind Bakersfield’s Greek Food Festival are preparing for its upcoming Holiday Bazaar.
They’re looking to help usher in this holiday season this weekend, where a variety of sweets, including baklava, melomakarona (a honey walnut spiced cookies), tiramisu cupcakes, and other homemade baked goods, will be up for grabs.
While you’re eating sweet treats, a handful of vendors will also be on-site at this weekend’s event hosted by St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Individual treats range from $1 to $5, and trays of pastries for $40 to $60. You can check out the full menu by visiting the Bakersfield Greek Food Festival Facebook page.
The Holiday Bazaar kicks off Friday, November 17, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last day on Saturday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 410 Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield in the church’s Hellenic Hall.
