The Greek national football team will face off against Scotland in the playoff stage in its bid to clinch promotion to the UEFA Nations League A tier after Friday’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The two teams will play against each other in a two-leg tie, with the first match scheduled for March 20th in Greece and the return leg three days later to be played in Glasgow, Scotland, on March 23.

The other knockout playoff pairings for promotion to League A are:

Turkey vs. Hungary
Ukraine vs. Belgium
Austria vs. Serbia

Club Rivalry Adds Intrigue
The clash between Greece and Scotland is also interesting because Liverpool FC teammates Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson, competing for the left-back position at the club level, will go up against each other in the international matchup.

Head-to-Head History

The Greek team and Scotland have faced off only twice before, during the EURO 1996 qualifiers. Greece secured a 1-0 win at the Olympic Stadium of Athens (OAKA), while Scotland won the reverse fixture by the same scoreline on home soil.

The Greek national football team clinched the second spot in their qualifying group in League B, only missing out on the top spot and automatic promotion to powerhouse England on goal difference.

Nations League Quarterfinal Draw

In the race for the Nations League title, eight teams will battle it out in the quarterfinals. The draw has produced these exciting pairings:

Netherlands vs. Spain
Denmark vs. Portugal
Croatia vs. France
Italy vs. Germany

The upcoming matches promise intense competition, both for promotion and the Nations League crown.
