Greek Roots – Jewelry and More in the Heart of Athens

The art jewelry creation adventure known as Greek Roots begun in 1975 when Vasilis and Marianna Nikolfaidis established their jewelry workshop businesses creating handmade jewelry, applying their previously acquired working experience with great emphasis on robustness and detail.

Continuing to create and produce, jewelry both Vasilis and Marianna decided in 1981 to open their first retail shop in the area of Acropolis, named Greek Roots. They specialized in creating and selling silver and gold items with precious and semi-precious stones, inspired by their Greek heritage based on ancient and traditional Greek motives.

Given Marianna’s passion for contemporary art, they started adding collections from distinguished Greek jewelry designers, leading in 1988 to a new retail store named George Art Jewels – their son’s name. The store is based mostly on Greek modern designer pieces that you won’t find just anywhere in Greece..

In 2018, the Greek Roots e-shop was established, allowing customers from all over the world to purchase online their favorite Greek jewelry.

George Nikolaidis, he son of Vasilis and Marianna, was raised in the workshop and he undertook jewelry design and gemmology studies at the Mokume College, having the unique opportunity to share his passion for jewelry craftsmanship by being actively involved in his family business.

George continues the family’s jewelry tradition and his vision is to provide state-of-the-art jewelry with affordable prices, unique quality, and a wide range of designs.

As both a jewelry designer and a businessman, he works long hours creating handmade customized pieces in the workshop where people can watch his art in the making. The workshop is currently located on the top floor of the Greek Roots store and is open to the public, allowing visitors to be introduced to the magical world of jewelry design and Greek culture.
